Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. At the age of five when she left for Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma decided to be an actor by the age of six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing as well as dancing, and also acting. At the age of 10, she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Casting agents discovered Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for these characters. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It beat all previous records for its opening and weekend ticket revenues, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performance of three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her performance. Emma's performance was nominated and won five awards later for the movie.
